New Yorkers Polled On Holiday Spending

Most New York voters say they are unwilling to spend more money on presents this year.

A Siena College survey released last week of about 400 voters found nearly half of New Yorkers plan to spend more than $500 on gifts this holiday season.

A fifth of voters plan to spend over $1,000 – while a third plan to hold their gift spending under $300.

As for where they shop: 40% of New Yorkers say that they will do at least half of their holiday shopping online. That’s unchanged from a year ago.

Only 7% of voters shopped online for a majority of their presents a decade ago.
