Alcohol Consumption Down On Long Island

Alcohol consumption on Long Island continues to outpace the national and regional average this decade. But the rate is lower than it had been.

That’s according to a recent survey released by the Long Island Health Collaborative.

Janine Logan, who heads the group, says alcohol abuse remains a problem.

“I think that we are forgetting that alcohol is a drug of choice and is an issue that has fallen off everyone’s radar a little bit.”

Logan spoke on WSHU’s The Full Story.

The survey also shows binge drinking on Long Island is at a six-year low.
