The Yale women’s soccer coach has left his job amid allegations of inappropriate behavior with students he coached at the University of New Haven.
Some former UNH students who played for Brendan Faherty between 2003 and 2009 told the Yale Daily News the coach had a history of abusing his position.
They allege that Faherty is guilty of sexual misconduct with one student and having had a consensual sexual relationship with another player. They also said the coach frequently drank with his players at bars.
The newspaper revealed the information to Yale officials on Monday. The coach left two days later.
The university would not say whether Faherty resigned or was fired. Faherty did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
He came to Yale from Stony Brook University in December, after then Yale coach Rudy Meredith accepted a plea deal for his part in the college admissions scandal.
