DeLauro Calls For E-Cigarettes To Be Pulled From Market

U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro from Connecticut told federal regulators this week to take e-cigarettes off the market because of potential serious health risks.

“The Department of Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration allowed dangerous products to come to market by exempting e-cigarettes from the pre-market review process, which would have required manufacturers to prove the safety of their products prior to their sale.”

DeLauro says there are thousands of e-cigarettes brands on the market, and companies aren’t aware of their long-term health risks or safety of ingredients to their young consumers.

The Centers for Disease Control has reported more than 450 cases of lung illness associated from using e-cigarettes or vaping. There are 11 cases under investigation in Connecticut.
