Seaside State Park Development Hits Roadblock

The state-led plan to build a destination resort at Seaside State Park in Waterford, Connecticut, has hit a major setback.

State officials ended their four-year quest for a developer to take on the project this week after they received two different, and insufficient, proposals.

The renovation of several historic buildings, which served as a tuberculosis sanatorium, in the 1930s is expected to cost tens of millions of dollars.

The state is also challenged by a $20 million lawsuit by a would-be developer who says Connecticut violated a contract to preserve the Long Island Sound beachfront.
