New York, Connecticut and 18 other states filed briefs this week in support of a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s diversion of federal funds to construct a southern border wall.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong says they oppose Trump’s attempt to overturn a court ruling that prevents his wall.
“I think that the president’s demand for a border wall, which Congress has explicitly said he cannot build, is a gross violation of the Constitution. It’s motivated by a hateful and racist fringe on the right. And there is no need for it.”
The Trump administration appealed the case brought by the Sierra Club in federal court in California.
