Curran Announces New Code Of Ethics For County Contractors

Nassau County will hold vendors to a new code of ethics.

County Executive Laura Curran says the regulations will help combat corruption when companies do unjust business with the county.

The code addresses conflicts of interest like accepting gifts and awarding contracts to former employees.

Curran says it will help prevent the county from wasting taxpayer dollars. Nassau County spent $137 million on contractors’ services last year.

Multiple Nassau officials have faced corruption charges in recent years. Former County Executive Ed Mangano was convicted in March on federal charges of bribery, wire fraud and obstruction of justice.
