A Quinnipiac University poll released on Monday finds that American voters of all parties blame President Donald Trump for the federal government shutdown by a two-to-one margin.
The poll finds that 63 percent of voters support a Democratic proposal to reopen parts of the government that do not involve border security, while negotiating funding for a border wall.
Every party, gender, education, age and racial group supports this idea except Republicans. While a majority of Republicans are against the shutdown, 52 percent still oppose the Democrats’ plans to reopen the government without funding the wall.
The survey of 1,209 voters nationwide was conducted between Thursday and Sunday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
