Beautiful Music NOW - Stars and Stripes Forever

youtube

Happy Independence Day! I have two Beautiful Music offerings for you today. First, a performance of THE ANACREONTIC SONG, which was used for an 18th century gentlemen's music club. It was borrowed as the melody of our national anthem!

Second, legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz -- the Russian immigrant became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1944 -- performs his rousing rendition of STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER.

Suzanne Bona is the host and executive producer of Sunday Baroque, a nationally syndicated weekly radio show of Baroque and early music which she originated on WSHU in 1987.
