Municipal elections are being held in all but four Connecticut cities and towns. In Bridgeport, the state's largest city, former mayor Joe Ganim hopes to return to office after having won the recent Democratic primary. Ganim served seven years in prison for corruption. He’s running against six other candidates.

Besides mayors and first selectmen, school and zoning board positions and other local offices are on the ballot in Connecticut and New York.

On Long Island, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, a Democrat, is running for re-election. He’s running against Republican James O’Connor.
