Residents in the Riverhead Central School District will vote next month on two proposals that would pay for facility upgrades.
One proposal would fund new classroom construction and security measures. The second would pay for improvements to the athletic fields.
The proposals would cost $97 million dollars if approved. That means annual property taxes would go up by about $230 per home.
Officials say the proposals would help ease overcrowding in the district. Enrollment has increased by 16% in the last decade, with at least two schools over capacity.
