Internationationally acclaimed pianist Frederic Chiu has performed transcriptions of orchestral works for his whole career, but he says there's nothing like the transcriptions Franz Liszt made of Beethoven's symphonies.
Frederic has just released an album of Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 5 and 7, as transcribed by Liszt. As he told Kate Remington, these transcriptions are the closest record we have of a recording of Beethoven himself.
Frederic will be performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in a free concert at the Westport Library on March 5, 2020, in conjunction with Beechwood Arts' Do or Die season.
