New Haven Police announced this week that 25 members of the Island Brothers Gang were indicted. Local police linked shootings and homicides around the city to the gang.
New Haven Interim Police Chief Ontoniel Reyes says his department will not tolerate further gang-related crimes.
“We want to send a message that if you engage in gun violence, we’re going to come after you with every resource that we have available to us.”
New Haven authorities say they arrested the gang members through a months-long operation with the FBI.
Officials say the gang started in New Haven but has spread to towns and states, including Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The suspects appeared in federal court. More indictments are expected.
