A Violin Concerto with Connecticut roots

American violinist Maud Powell, one of the great champions of new music in the early 1900s, commissioned Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Violin Concerto and gave its premiere at the Norfolk Festival in Connecticut in 1912. Hear that concerto tonight on WSHU - 91.1, 107.5, and our music stream.
