Maddalena Sirmen was a trailblazer—one of the very few women in the 18th century to make her name as both violinist and composer. Trained by Tartini, she toured Europe and earned acclaim. Hear her Violin Concerto No. 5 tonight on 91.1, 107.5, and our music stream.

Julie Freddino is WSHU's Program Director. She also produces Sunday Baroque.
