U.S. Representative Jahana Hayes said President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief plan contains a provision that would provide school districts with short and long-term assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The American Rescue Plan would make nearly $130 billion available to State Education Departments to safely reopen schools for in-person learning.

“I have been vocal since the very beginning about some of my concerns with making sure we reopen schools safely, we support our students, make sure they have adequate resources and we have some way to make up for the learning loss,” Hayes said.

Hayes also said the Save Education Jobs Act would save nearly 4 million education jobs nationwide.

The American Rescue Plan is expected to be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives this week.
