At least 18 ice hockey players at Yale University in Connecticut tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. The outbreak prompted Yale to raise its campus virus alert from “low” to “moderate.”

The cases follow reports of coronavirus outbreaks among at least a dozen teen players from New York and Massachusetts. They competed in a tournament in Connecticut at the end of August.

New Hampshire’s governor has suspended all hockey activities at indoor rinks through the end of the month. That’s after nearly 160 people associated with the sport tested positive since August.

Vermont’s governor followed on Friday after 18 players in Montpelier tested positive. He asked players to wear masks when they are allowed back on the ice.
