The state of Connecticut has hired a private consultant to help the state prepare for the large number of state employees who are expected to retire.

Nearly 25 percent of the state government workforce will be eligible to retire by 2022.

The Boston Consulting Group will recommend how to mitigate possible negative impacts from the retirements.

The state plans to use the situation as a chance to modernize and improve state government.

The report is expected by February 2021.
