Stop & Shop Ends Temporary Pay Increase For Workers

Stop & Shop has ended a temporary 10% pay increase that it gave to workers during the pandemic.

The grocery store chain started the program in late March, and had extended it until July 4.

Union officials launched an online petition for an extension. They say the pay raise should continue as long as workers risk their health and work extended hours.

Stop & Shop says they’re starting to transition back to pre-pandemic policies, as states begin to reopen.

The grocery chain still plans to offer two additional weeks of paid sick leave, and a flexible leave policy.
