Governor Ned Lamont says schools will remain closed in Connecticut for at least another month because of the COVID-19 virus.

Lamont had initially ordered the state’s public schools closed for two weeks. But he’s reassessed that.

“I regret to announce that I think that we are going to push off that date when they could possibly open at the earliest to April 20th”, he said.

In the meantime, Lamont says the state has secured the donation of 60,000 laptops for needy high school students through its educational partnership with the Dalio Foundation. He says this would help the students keep up with their school work during the shutdown.

Lamont says the state is also working with WiFi providers to expand internet access and create more free hotspots.
