Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials say the MTA needs a $4 billion bailout as ridership drops during the coronavirus pandemic.
They estimate Long Island Rail Road ridership has dropped by 67%, and by 90% on Metro-North.
The MTA told New York’s congressional delegation that they face a financial calamity unless they get help.
They expect a $3.7 billion revenue decline and will spend about $300 million to clean and maintain cars to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
