Suffolk County Opens Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing

New York State set up its first COVID-19 testing site in Suffolk County in a commuter’s parking lot at Stony Brook University.

The back half of the parking lot was sectioned off, with white tents for medical personnel and equipment. The National Guard secured the area.

Signs warned drivers that they needed an appointment to get into the testing area.

Patients approved to be tested will have their noses and mouths swabbed. They’ll receive a phone call with their results within 48 to 72 hours.

New York residents who feel they need to be tested for the virus should call 888-364-3065 to describe their symptoms. A health professional will ask questions to determine if the patient should be tested. They will then be directed to the nearest sampling site.
