An East Northport, Long Island, man plans to sue the town of Southold for $30 million after a November boat accident that killed one person and injured two others.
Francesco DiStefano says the town failed to maintain marine markers, like buoys, near the crash.
He also claims Southold police defamed him. Police had arrested DiStefano for boating while intoxicated.
Authorities reported the incident, but a toxicology report later showed his blood alcohol level was within legal limits.
Injured passengers also plan to sue the town for monetary damages.
