South Ferry Company Expands Service

Courtesy of South Ferry

The ferry service that transports people and vehicles between Shelter Island and North Haven, Long Island, will expand by the end of March.

A 101-foot long, 40-foot wide boat will join four others in the South Ferry fleet.

The private ferry company will also begin to replace an existing maintenance dock on Shelter Island with a larger one to accommodate bigger boats.

South Fleet has received federal funding to raise the road that meets the ferries and install a drainage system in North Haven.
