Calarco Succeeds Gregory As Presiding Officer Of Suffolk County Legislature

The Suffolk County Legislature has elected Democrat Rob Calarco as its new presiding officer.

Former Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory vacated the position and left the legislature to accept an appointment on the Babylon Town Board.

Calarco is in his fifth term representing Medford and Patchogue.

The Legislature also elected Democrat Kara Hahn as deputy presiding officer. 

Democrats hold a 10-8 majority in the Suffolk County Legislature.
