Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has announced that he and Attorney General William Tong have reached an agreement that would resolve a longstanding legal dispute with the state’s hospitals.
The deal would stabilize hospital user fee revenue and help fund the state’s share of Medicaid payments for the next seven years.
Lamont says it’s now up to state lawmakers to ratify the deal when they meet during a special session this month.
“By the end of this year, we would have solved the hospital issue which would have been an incredible stain on our state.”
The Connecticut Hospital Association filed its initial lawsuit against the state in 2016.
The hospitals had claimed that the state was not fair in the way it calculated Medicaid payments to them.
