Hunger is a year-round problem for many people on Long Island, including those with jobs.

Paule Pachter leads Long Island Cares, a food bank serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties.  He says the problem is only magnified ahead of Thanksgiving.

“If you look at the 259,000 people who are food insecure in the region, two-thirds of them are people who work, work multiple jobs, and who are living paycheck to paycheck, and they are one medical disaster away from losing everything.”

Pachter spoke on WSHU’s The Full Story.

Long Island Cares provides emergency food to 375 different soup kitchens and food pantries around the region.
