The North Shore Rail Trail, Long Island’s version of the High Line, is set to be completed by 2021.
The 10-mile biking and hiking trail will go from Port Jefferson Station to Wading River. The North Shore Rail Trail is being built along an abandoned railway, although it won’t be elevated like its counterpart in Manhattan.
Suffolk County pitched in $500,000 to complete the $9 million project, which is being federally funded.
The North Shore Rail Trail will feature trees, vegetation, and information kiosks. It will also connect to several downtown areas.
