The Nassau County Comptroller’s Office is rolling out a new online service that lets residents see inside the county’s finances.

It’s called the Comptroller’s Scorecard and it is the latest addition to the Open Nassau Transparency Portal, an online platform aimed at making public information easier to see.

County Comptroller Jack Schnirman pitched the idea back in 2017 during his campaign. He says this is part of a process to make Nassau County a more transparent government.

“Not so long ago, Nassau County’s government was the worst in the league. We were rated D+ in transparency. We’ve now gone from the opposite of transparency, where there were stacks of paper in basements and attics, to a comprehensive online scoreboard.”

In addition to keeping the site up-to-date, his office also plans to release past data connected to Hurricane Sandy on the scorecard.
