Poll: 80% Of New Yorkers Are Proud To Be American

New Yorkers feel extra patriotic this Independence Day. That’s according to a survey of residents released this week by the Siena College Research Institute.

Researchers say 71% of New Yorkers consider themselves patriotic, and 80% say they are proud to be an American. They say this will be evident in their celebration of the national holiday.

More than half of the 1,000 New Yorkers surveyed report they will have worn red, white and blue during their festivities.

But older New Yorkers and Republicans ranked more patriotic than young adults and Democrats.

Republicans in the New York State Legislature challenge hundreds of what they call progressive laws approved by Democrats-in-charge as “un-American.”
