SHU Poll: Connecticut Residents Say Yes To Legalized Marijuana

A majority of Connecticut residents are in favor of legalizing recreational marijuana.

That’s according to a May poll of 1,000 people released this week by Sacred Heart University and the Hartford Courant.

Lesley DeNardis, executive director of the school’s Institute for Public Policy, says residents have felt this way since a similar poll in 2017.

“In terms of responding to and addressing the budget crisis, people look to marijuana revenues, and they were 70% in favor. So we’ve seen over time a clear and consistent strong public support.”

DeNardis says Connecticut residents have made their decision, but lawmakers remain divided.
