A fire at Silver Sands State Park in Milford destroyed three buildings that were under construction Tuesday night.

The buildings were part of a $9 million dollar project to build a bathhouse, concessions stand, parking lot and office space. They were scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.

Firefighters say the blaze was brought under control in about two hours.

Connecticut’s Department of Environmental and Energy Protection says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
