Claudio Monteverdi's opera ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE was first performed in 1607 in Mantua, Italy. It is the mythological story of Orpheus who attempts to rescue his beloved, Eurydice, from the underworld. Today's Beautiful Music is a choreographed performance by The Royal Opera of a harrowing scene from ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE.

Suzanne Bona is the host and executive producer of Sunday Baroque, a nationally syndicated weekly radio show of Baroque and early music which she originated on WSHU in 1987.
