Suffolk County Legislator Charged With Ethics Violations

Suffolk County prosecutors have charged a county legislator with perjury and ethics violations.

Prosecutors claim Republican Legislator Rudolph Sunderman illegally maintained a job as a fire district manager in Centereach while working in the county Legislature.

County ethics rules prohibit legislators from holding another paid government position.

Prosecutors allege the first-term legislator established a shell corporation to maintain the second job.

Sunderman pleaded not guilty and is expected to return to court in August.

The Suffolk County Republican Party Committee calls the charges “baseless political attacks.”
