Long Island’s high school graduation rate increased slightly in 2019. That’s according to data from the state Education Department.
Nearly 90% of students in Nassau and Suffolk graduated on time in four years, compared to a little more than 80% in 2018.
The rate also continued to be above the New York State average.
There was also a small increase in Long Island students passing advanced courses in 2019 compared to 2018. Both rates were still higher than the statewide average.
Data also showed a disparity in graduation rates between higher- and lower-income school districts.
