Suspect Arrested In 1986 Murder Of 11-Year-Old Norwalk Girl

Maine State Police
Marc Karun of Stetson, Maine, was arrested Wednesday for the sexual assault and murder of Kathleen Flynn.

Authorities arrested a Maine man for the 1986 killing of an 11-year-old Connecticut girl who was raped and strangled as she walked home from her school.

Maine State Police arrested 53-year-old Marc Karun as he left his home. Karun is expected to be charged with murder and sexual assault when he is brought to Connecticut.

Kathleen Flynn disappeared on September 23, 1986. Her body was found 100 feet from a path near Ponus Ridge Middle School in Norwalk where Kathleen used to walk home most days.

Public records show Karun previously lived in several towns in Connecticut, including Norwalk. He is listed on Maine's sex offender registry as having a 1989 conviction for sexual assault in Connecticut.
