Unlocking Secrets of the Past from Tree Rings

Unlocking Secrets of the Past from Tree Rings

Have you ever looked at the rings of a tree and wondered what stories they tell? Each ring holds clues about the tree’s age, past climates, wildfires, and storms.

Special guest Caroline Leland, dendrochronologist from Columbia University’s Tree-Ring Laboratory, will show how scientists study tree rings—both in the field and in the lab—and explain why the great white oaks of Blau House & Gardens are among Westport’s most treasured cultural landmarks.
After the program, enjoy free time to explore the gardens until 4:30.
