Japanese Fall Festival - RESCHEDULED
Japanese Fall Festival - RESCHEDULED
Originally scheduled for September 7, this family-friendly Japanese Fall Festival has been moved to SUNDAY, September 8. It will feature taiko drum performances, martial arts demonstrations, a Japanese mini-market, and traditional Bon dancing, as well as a Japanese water yoyo game, children's origami, demonstrations of the traditional Japanese Go game, and a Japanese language table. Two short plays will be narrated and performed with original props made of twisted balloons. NEW this year: All are invited to join in Radio Taiso, a gentle, 3 minute fitness routine set to music. First introduced nearly a century ago, it is a staple of Japanese daily life.
Packaged Japanese snacks and bottled drinks will be available.
Japanese mini-market: Displays of Japanese tenugui (hand-dyed, 100% cotton, traditional Japanese cloths), Crystal and Stone Jewelry by Healing Art Miala, Inawaratei spice mixes, Japanese ceramics, origami jewelry by SakurayaOrigami and crafts by kazaria3 and yocoloco.
Free parking is available in the three lots around the main library. Note: There is now a 3 hour time limit for the lot in front of the library (Taylor Lot). See https://www.discoverwestportct.com/parking for parking information.
