An unusual origin story

The story goes that Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich liked English composer Benjamin Britten’s music, but he thought the composer was long dead. Learning he was very much alive, Rostropovich asked him to write a piece for cello, and you can hear the results this morning on 91.1, 107.5, and our music stream.
