Virgil Thomson helped shape the "American Sound" in classical music. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his score to Louisiana Story and earned both the Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts. Tonight, we’ll hear his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, after 8 p.m. on 91.1, 107.5, and our music stream.

Julie Freddino is WSHU's program director. She also hosts Sunday Spotlight and produces Sunday Baroque.
