Democrats, Lamont Withholding Toll Plan Information, Republicans Charge

Dec 5, 2019

Republican lawmakers in Connecticut say they need to see details of Democratic Governor Ned Lamont’s latest highway toll proposal before they meet for a special session during the week of December 16.

Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano says Lamont and House Democrats refuse to share with Republicans the details of their new truck-only bridge toll proposal. He says the state bonding package has also not been made public.

“Until they produce that, I don’t know how anybody can say they are going to vote in favor of something they haven’t seen. Number two on the bonding package I’m telling the governor to give me a copy of the bonding package.”’

Lamont has said the state’s annual bond package for construction projects would be tied to the transportation infrastructure plan that he wants lawmakers to take action on in the special session.

Lamont also wants lawmakers to vote on a comprehensive settlement of a long-running lawsuit by hospitals against the state. And he’d like a resolution to the bitter wage dispute between restaurant owners and their tipped workers.
