Yale University says it’s deciding whether to discipline students who took part in a protest during the annual Harvard-Yale football game last weekend.
Hundreds of students occupied the field to protest the two schools’ endowments. Activists say the schools profit from fossil fuels, Puerto Rican debt and other morally questionable investments.
A spokesperson for the Ivy League called the protest regrettable. Yale officials said the school stands firmly for freedom of expression, but said it stands by the Ivy League’s statement.
A spokesperson for the university says it’s reviewing whether disciplinary action is warranted. Penalties range from a simple reprimand to expulsion and fines, according to the school’s undergraduate regulations.
