New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont met on a fishing trip Tuesday to discuss issues that affect both states like energy and transportation.
The two governors met on Lake Ontario where they talked about interstate issues.
Lamont says cooperation between Connecticut and New York makes sense because they share transportation infrastructure and the need to develop renewable energy.
“These state borders are pretty artificial and we have a lot of overlap there. And what we talked about in terms of energy, in terms of security, we are much better off when we work together.”
Cuomo says New York and Connecticut will hold joint drills and sessions for state police and emergency management response teams.
“If Connecticut has a problem, we can be there to help them. If we have an issue, they can be here to help us.”
Cuomo ended their talk with a gift. He gave Lamont a custom-made fishing rod and tackle box.
