New Haven Firefighter Suspended Without Pay After Alleged Assault

A New Haven firefighter has been suspended without pay after he allegedly choked a woman last year.

Battalion Chief Herschel Wadley was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct following the October incident.

The New Haven Register reports a store clerk refused to sell Wadley a pair of boots because they weren’t on the approved vendors list for his clothing voucher. He then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and shook her side to side.

Wadley was banned from the store and placed on paid administrative leave following his arrest.

The length of his suspension is yet to be determined.
