Beautiful Music NOW - Florilegium

courtesy of the artist

In the 16th and 17th centuries, missionaries went to South America and brought their European musical traditions and instruments.

Today's Beautiful Music is a full concert of music from those missions -- sacred music featuring Florilegium with a variety of soloists. Most of the music is anonymous, but also included is music that was brought there, such as compositions by Pietro Locatelli and Domenico Zipoli.

Suzanne Bona is the host and executive producer of Sunday Baroque, a nationally syndicated weekly radio show of Baroque and early music which she originated on WSHU in 1987.
