The Trump administration canceled a $3 million contract with one of Connecticut’s main refugee resettlement agencies, leaving hundreds of families potentially homeless.

The New Haven-based IRIS—or Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services—had a contract with the Biden administration. It was meant to help up to 800 refugee families find housing, employment and other resources.

Now, IRIS is issuing an emergency appeal to make up the remaining funds.

According to the New Haven Independent, the Trump Administration suspended Biden’s refugee program last Tuesday and canceled the funding for IRIS on Friday afternoon.

IRIS said it needs about $3 million to help 200 families already here, including refugees from Afghanistan, Sudan and Syria.
