Our Woven Community (OWC), a program of the Burroughs Community Center, proudly announces its 10-year anniversary celebration, honoring a decade of resilience, creativity, and community building. The celebration will take place on Sunday, September 7, from 5–8 PM at Fairfield University – Dolan School of Business Event Hall.

Founded in 2015, Our Woven Community was created to provide refugee women in the Greater Bridgeport area with a safe, supportive space to learn sewing skills. Over the past decade, the program has empowered women from around the world to gain financial independence, express their creativity, and form lasting bonds with one another.
“This milestone is not just a celebration of ten years of stitching fabric—it's a celebration of stories, of strength, and of sisterhood,” said Therese LeFever, Program Director of Our Woven Community. “These women have built more than products—they've built futures.”

The event will feature the stories of the artists, live music, food, a live auction, and raffle. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and learn how the program has impacted their lives.
We invite the public, community partners, supporters, and press to join us in celebrating the achievements of the women of Our Woven Community, and to honor the rich tapestry of culture, resilience, and hope they’ve created over the past ten years.
