More Music Summer Festival Chorus
St. Thomas More Church announces its fifth annual Summer Festival Chorus Concert on Sunday, August 24 at 3:00PM. The program this summer is entitled LUX (Latin for ‘light’), with the anchor piece being Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna. In this contemporary choral work, each of the five movements contains references to ‘light,’ assembled from various sacred Latin texts. In the composer’s own words, “I found great personal comfort and solace in setting to music these timeless and wondrous words about Light, a universal symbol of illumination at all levels - spiritual, artistic, and intellectual.” In addition to our 65 singers, the festival welcomes celebrated composer and pianist Dr. Joe Utterback along with esteemed conductor Constance Chase, director of the renowned West Point Glee Club at the U.S. Military Academy.
