Samuel Clemens became the beloved humorist and writer "Mark Twain," best known for his life on the Mississippi. So where did "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" come from? How did Twain get to Connecticut, where he spent a fourth of his life? What was his story here?

Mike Allen will speak in person at HFFC's March 13th program to share Twain's life in Hartford and in Redding -- time that was marked by some of his greatest literary achievements as well as several of his most profound personal tragedies.

Mike Allen is the host and producer of the podcast Amazing Tales from Off and On Connecticut's Beaten Path, a weekly program of 20-minute vignettes about Connecticut's historic past. (It's ranked among the top 5-10% of all podcasts in the United States.) Mike's background includes ten years as News Director of radio stations in Brookfield, a stint as Press Secretary to the Mayor of Danbury, and a 25-year corporate career in communications and marketing.
