Keeping People Talking about Genetics with DNA Today

On July 14, 2025, Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) will present Kira Dineen, a science podcaster and radio show host from Brookfield who, “keeps people talking about genetics,” at their featured monthly speaker program held at the Wilton Quaker Meetinghouse. Dineen’s award-winning radio show and podcast “DNA Today” has aired over 300 weekly episodes since 2012, featuring interviews with genetic counselors, researchers, patient advocates, and professors talking about genetics and public health. The podcast received People’s Choice awards in 2020, 2021 and 2022 for Best Science & Medicine Podcast.

In addition to her podcast, Kira Dineen, MS, CGC, CG(ASCP)CM was selected and served as a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) Digital Ambassador program for three years. She received her Diagnostic Genetic Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Connecticut and is a certified Cytogenetic Technologist. She received her Master of Science in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Dineen currently practices as a licensed, certified genetic counselor in CT.

Come meet Kira and hear her journey as one of the star science communicators on genetics in the country today. Gourmet pizza and refreshments will be served from 6:30-7:00 PM. The program will start at 7:00 PM. We will also be recording and broadcasting this meeting virtually via Zoom for anyone who is unable to join us in person. This meeting is free and open to the public.
